BREAKING: NURTW sacks MC Oluomo, asks Secretary to take over

The battle between leader of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos State, MC Oluomo, and the national executive has taken a new dimension as it has announced his sacking.

The national body has also dissolved its Lagos State Council under Oluomo (Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya), and asked the state Secretary, Seyi Bankole, to take over from him for noow.

The National Administrative Council of the union made this known in a statement titled ‘Dissolution of Lagos State Administrative Council’, jointly signed by its national president, Alhaji Tajudeen Baruwa, and general secretary, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Ya’u.

The body and Oluomo had been at war over its order to Oluomo, that he allow the tricycle unit to operate independently.

To forestall a crisis, the Lagos State Government has suspended operations of the NURTW in the state.

But in the statement, the NURTW national said:
“The National Administrative Council during its meeting of March 15, 2022, graciously passed a resolution to grant pardon to the suspended state chairman if he shows remorse and tenders unreserved apology to the union.

“However, up until this moment the suspended chairman has bluntly refused to do so; hence, the decision to take action against the Lagos State administrative council by dissolving same,” the statement read in part.

“The National administrative council in the exercise of the powers conferred on it by Article 17, section 2. subsections (i) and (ii) of the constitution of the union, during its meeting of April 5th, 2022, has dissolved the Lagos State administrative council forthwith.

“In view of the fact that nature abhors a vacuum and in line with Article 42 section 4, the State Secretary, Seyi Bankole is hereby directed to take over the running of the affairs of Lagos State council pending the constitution of the caretaker committee after due consultations with appropriate relevant authorities, meanwhile, all members of the dissolved state administrative council are hereby directed to handover all property of the Union, including cash to the State Secretary.

“On the strength of the above development, therefore, all members of the union in Lagos State and beyond, including members of the public are hereby kindly requested to henceforth stop dealing with members of the dissolved Lagos State administrative council on issues concerning the union.”

NURTW crisis: Lagos Assembly okays appointment of Parks Manager

There are indications that the Lagos State Government may take over the control of the transport workers’ activities in the state.

This is based on the stand of the House of Assembly, okaying the takeover by the Lagos Parks Management Authority, over the crisis engulfing the National Union of Road Transport Workers.

The state body led by Musiliu Akinsanya has announced leaving the national after he was suspended for what the latter called insubordination and anti-union moves.

Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Temitope Adewale, who made the position of the Assembly known, said the legislative arm had been very proactive as it already passed a law creating the Lagos State Parking Authority, which should now oversee activities at all the parks in the State.

“The House is fully aware of developments in the transportation union and now that the crisis has resulted in the banning of NURTW activities in Lagos, it is clear to state that all parks, garages and parking activities will be under the Lagos State Parking Authority as stipulated by law,” he said.

“At the stage the NURTW has found itself, the State has to take charge of the situation to avoid a breakdown of law and order.

“By law, the state’s Parking Authority has a General Manager on whose shoulders the responsibility now falls to manage the parks at the moment.

“The law approves a General Manager for the Parking Authority. Lagosians should be calm. The situation is under control as the government takes necessary actions,” he added in a statement.

Earlier, the Sanwo-Olu government had announced the suspension of the NURTW’s activities after Oluomo called for it.

In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy in the state, Gbenga Omotoso, the governor said, “After considering the provisions of the law, the Government hereby suspends the activities of NURTW, which must cease to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State.

“The Government will set up a Committee to immediately take control of the parks and garages. Members of the committee will be key stakeholders in the sector.

“The Government’s position is premised on its responsibility to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order in all parks and garages in Lagos State.”

The government has, however, said that contrary to rumours, it has not appointed Oluomo as the Parks Manager.

I SAY NO TO ANY FORM OF INTIMIDATION FROM ANYONE.

I want to thank the almighty Allah for the success of today’s meeting held Tuesday 9th March 2022, at the State Secretariat, Oko Oba Agege Lagos.

Since my resumption in office as the Lagos State Chairman NURTW, my watch word has been UNITY and PEACE, for over two years now, there has been alot of rebranding, unity and peaceful co-existence amidst the members because I tried as much as possible to ensure there’s no room for division or intimidation from anyone.

I wouldn’t take this from anyone who’s trying to bring division and disunity among Lagos state NURTW members , I tag them betrayal and agent of destruction, NURTW Lagos council has been the only loyal state from South West to national headquarters Abuja: in terms of dues and other obligations, the president can attest to what’s happening in Oyo state, Ondo, Edo state even his own claimed state Ogun state, there are no NURTW activities in those state all because the experience isn’t really there on the part of National president.

I, Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, using this medium to advise all union members to avoid any form of thuggery, hooliganism and destruction and also called on the union members to remain calm and be united.

No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks, I am extremely pleased to our exteem members of the NURTW Lagos state council and loyalists who amidst all odds stick with this administration.

May almighty Allah’s blessings and protection be upon my executive and member, grant them the opportunity to shine a light in the darkness and lead others to you.

Tinubu did not send you to be attacking people – Lagos transporter tells MC Oluomo

Lagos big transport entrepreneur, Alhaji Abiola Azeez, has accused the state Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, of a plot to kill him.

He alleged that Oluomo was fond of attacking people in the name of the All Progressives Congress leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

According to Azeez, however, Tinubu does not ask Oluomo to attack others, saying Tinubu’s children will also not do so.

Abiola, who was arrested alongside some boys for allegedly being in possession of a gun, said this in a video in which he narrated how Oluomo allegedly tried to kill him in the latter’s office.

Abiola has just been appointed as the Chairman of the tricycle riders’ association but, according to him, this is the reason Oluomo is in war with him, saying he wanted to hijack the union too.

He said:
You have an opportunity to be a state chairman. I don’t beef you. God puts people in position. I may be among you, I am not one of you. I don’t participate in your evils.

They appointed me as Chairman for tricycle operators. You invited me, but unknown to me, you had set boys who would kill me. You were there. They started attacking me, but I managed to escape into my car.

The boys did everything to smash my car windows, but all efforts were in vain because God is bigger than you.
You said there was a gun in my car. Policemen searched my car, they didn’t see any. Yet, later, they brought a gun but the police did not buy the fraud.

No one has more buses, tricycles and motorcycles than me in Lagos. I have the largest number. If we didn’t buy the buses, will you have anything to collect money on.

When Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede was the NURTW Chairman, he did not drag the tricyles union with us. Agbede did not hijack the tricycles union from us. Same Olorunwa and Saula. You came and hijacked everything. Money will finish. The end shall come.

You think you are powerful. It is a lie. Only God has power. Those who had power yesterday, where are they? You can’t kill me because I have God.

You commit the atrocities because you say you are Asiwaju Tinubu’s son. If Tinubu did not make and guard his name, would he be where he is today?
You are not Asiwaju’s son. He has his own children. His children don’t commit atrocities.

As MC Oluomo prepares to speak on plan to become traditional ruler of Oshodi

All eyes are now on the Chairman of the Lagos State National Road Transport Union, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, as he prepares to speak on an alleged plan of his to become the traditional ruler of the community.

The union leader popularly called MC Oluomo is said to be nurturing the ambition but another family has kicked against it.

Now, Oluomo’s media officer, Sunday Moses, has said his boss will address the press by Sunday.

Based on the enormous power, wealth and connection he wields, Oluomo cannot be ignored when associated with that kind of ambition.

Apart from commanding unionists who are prone to fighting for him, he is believed to be a right-hand man of all-powerful politician, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

If he does chooses to become the king, many would think, it might be very difficult to stop him.

Oluomo is a native of Oshodi, where he was born some 46 years ago.

Perhaps this is the reason the concerned Olushi Onigbesa royal family, on on Wednesday, raised the alarm over the matter.

The family appealed to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to stop Oluomo from becoming the Oba of Oshodi.

The Head of the Olushi Onigbesa royal family, Kabiru Eyantan, noted at a media briefing: “The attention of the Olushi Onigbesa royal family of Oshodi Awori Kingdom has been drawn to the picture of Alhaji Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo, Chairman, NURTW in Lagos State circulated on numerous social media platform where he was dressed in traditional kingly attire intended for an Oba in Yorubaland.

“Our attention has also been drawn to the trending videos and news in social and conventional media with reference to the message delivered by a first class Oba in Ikorodu Division at the coronation anniversary of Oniba of Iba Kingdom in Iba Town, Ikeja Division on the issue of intended aspiration of Akinsanya to become Oba of Oshodi.

“We plead with the Lagos State Government to avert communal crisis, breakdown of law and order and bloodshed in Oshodi community, if urgent action is not taken by our proactive and peace-loving Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to stop MC Oluomo from soliciting to become the Oba of Oshodi or laying claim to the Obaship stool.

“To put the record straight, we state that the tribunal of inquiry into chieftaincy matters in respect of the upgrading Baale of Oshodi to first-class Obaship status was set up by Lagos State Government and lasted between January 2003 and December 2008 and the tribunal recommended that the Olushi Onigbesa royal family of Oshodi land is the only family eligible and entitled to the stool of the Oba of Oshodi.

“Alhaji Akinsanya is not a member of the Olushi Onigbesa royal family in Oshodi land and has no right to be the Oba of Oshodi stool and therefore is not eligible to aspire or to be appointed to the stool of Oba of Oshodi.”

Perhaps as stakeholders are eager to hear MC Oluomo on the matter, they must also be waiting to hear Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu speak on it.

Being a father of all, he should be exploring means of bringing all together for peace, progress and development of the space, Lagos and the country at large.

MC Oluomo’s twins in great moods as they graduate from different American universities

It is a swell time for popular leader of Lagos road transport workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo.

His twins – Taiye and Kehinde Akinsanya – are graduating from different universities in the United States and they are celebrating it online.

Oluomo’s other children had graduated abroad and he had often shared the news on social media.

This time, while Kehinde bagged a B.Sc in Healthcare Administration from Albany State University, twin sister Taiye bagged a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a minor in Management from Columbus State University.

Taiye enthuses on her IG page:

I’ve always dreamt of getting a doctoral degree – MC Oluomo

Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos State, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, has shared his dream to bag a doctoral degree.

He said this on Thursday when he was awarded an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Corporate and Public Sector Profesionals (ICPSP).

Mrs Omolara Adelakun, Registrar, ICPSP, said that the award, which is the highest membership grade of the institute, was in recognition of Akinsanya’s excellence and commitment to public services.

According to the ICPSP Registrar, the institute is offering the union a platform to add value to its members due to the progress it has seen it made overtime.
In her remark, Chief Agnes Sessi, Chairperson, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Laos branch, said that Akinsanya deserves the award, having paid his dues and redefined the operations of NURTW in Lagos State.
Sessi, also Matron, ICPSP, said that she recommended the NURTW boss for the award when the opportunity arose because he is a reliable leader that should be encouraged to do more.

“NURTW are professionals in the public sectors who have been delivering on their mandates and that is why the institute is giving the union chairman its highest membership grade award.
“Akinsanya has been making waves, creating jobs, affecting lives positively in several ways and championing peace and stability within the state.

“This award of ICPSP Honourary Fellow heralds Akinsanya to be decorated with his full doctorate award at the University of Chichester in the United Kingdom in January,” she said.
In his address, Akinsanya thanked ICPSP for finding him worthy of the award and promised not to disappoint the institute.

He noted that while the award came as a surprise, he holds it in high esteem and would not do anything that will bring the image of institute to disrepute.
“I thank you for honouring me with this surprise award because I have always dreamt of getting a doctorate award and this is a dream come true,” he said.

Mr Seyi Bankole, Secretary, NURTW, Lagos State Council, appreciated the institute for honouring the union boss with the award, saying it is another step of progress for the institute.
“This award shows the value the public place on our union members, that we are no longer a union of touts but professional captains.
“The honour will change our logo in the face of the public and it is progress for the institute, the NURTW, NLC Lagos State and Nigeria,” he said.

MC Oluomo speaks on his mosque project

Chairma of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Lagos State, Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo,has explained why he renovated a mosque in Lagos.

Years back, I used to pray in this Giniyi-Inasa mosque at Inasa when I was younger and during this period, I used to have it in mind that one day I will rebuild the mosque.

Some months back, one of my elder sisters invited me to an award presentation at the same mosque which she is one of the recipient, on getting to the venue. I noticed some children in the mosque were reciting the Holy Quran so I gave one of my brothers money to share amongst them.
On his return, my brother complained about the state at which the mosque was, the building was old, severe heat due to poor ventilation, and the place appears small to accommodate the worshippers.

So when the imam called me out for a donation, I just asked and begged them if they would permit me to rebuild the mosque and I was told yes. Alhamdulilahi, the mosque has been fully renovated within a space of 2months. Now the worship can pray in a more conductive environment.

MC Oluomo’s son tackles those calling his father a tout

King West, One of the children of popular road transport union leader, Musiliu Akinsanya, (MC Oluomo), has tackled those who call the man a tout.
Oluomo has remained controversial for years, as he is often fingered in the violent crises that at times rock the union in his Lagos State base.

But Westt said in an online post on Wednesday that his father was rather a symbol of love and care.

He noted:

Oluomo’s children normally study abroad and he has celebrated their breakthroughs in recent years.

Pasuma savours fatherhood as his daughter becomes US Navy officer

Fuji act, Psuma Alabi, is currently in high spirits as one of his daughters, Opeyemi, has become an officer of the high rayted United States Navy.

Pasuma has a novel fatherhood life as he has never been married but has children from some women.

He has, however, regularly had the opportunity to smile over the progress his children are making.

Announcing the most recent feat online on Wednesday, he noted (sic):

‘Congratulations to me, my gurl is a Navy now in USA, Opeyemi L’america congrats my dearest daughter, yhu alwayz make me and yhur mum proud alwayz. May God almighty guide yhu in yhur choosing career(Amin yah ALLAHU.E MA LO WA OOO IJOBA LAWA OOO.’

Interestingly, it was only about a week ago that one of Pasuma’s top fans, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, also announced a similar victory through one of his daughters, Nofisat.

She not only completed her education in Nursing in a Georgian university, she has also secured a job in the God’s own country.
