The Bauchi State judiciary has trained 31 newly appointed Shari’ah court judges to strengthen their capacity and improve justice delivery across the state.

The Chief Registrar of the Bauchi Shari’ah Court of Appeal, Tukur Saleh, disclosed this in an interview in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Saleh said the two-day capacity-building exercise was organised in collaboration with the Bauchi State Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

He said the judges would be deployed to lower and upper Shari’ah courts across the state to ensure timely dispensation of justice.

According to him, the state has about 130 judges serving in its Shari’ah courts to strengthen justice delivery in line with Shari’ah law.

“We have been training judges and inspectors in partnership with JSC.

“We conducted the sessions for judges and inspectors this month separately.

“The Sharia division has also deployed inspectors to the six zonal offices across the three senatorial districts in the state,” he said.

Saleh listed the zonal offices as Gamawa, Katagum, Bauchi, Toro, Ningi and Misau.

He reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to timely justice delivery and commended the commission for its support.
