Two men, Nehemiah John, 31, and Ahmial Ishaku, 22, were on Tuesday arraigned before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court over the alleged theft of electrical cables worth N4 million.
They were charged with burglary, stealing and malicious damage. John pleaded guilty to the charge, while Ishaku pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Opeyemi Lawal, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offences between September and October 8 at Olokuta, Kemta, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
Lawal said John, a security guard, unlawfully entered his employer, Mrs Bisi Ojewoye’s house and stole electrical cables valued at N4 million.
The prosecutor added that John resigned from his job without explanation after allegedly committing the crime.
He further told the court that Ishaku received the cables from John, knowing they were stolen.
Lawal said the offences contravened Sections 390(6)(9), 411, 427 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Volume I, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Miss O.T. Odubanjo, adjourned the case until November 11 for hearing of facts.
