The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will publish the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general elections online following calls for wider public access.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja, saying the decision was aimed at promoting transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process.
He said the commission conducted a physical display of the preliminary register at registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026. The exercise allowed registered voters to verify their details and submit claims and objections.
Haruna said the same register would be available on INEC’s online portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org, complementing the physical display and enabling more Nigerians to scrutinise the list.
He added that the commission was processing claims and objections ahead of the certification and publication of the final register of voters on December 15.
Haruna thanked Nigerians and other stakeholders for their engagement, reaffirming INEC’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026.
