The OK Movement has emphasised the importance of grassroots mobilisation, strategic planning and organisational capacity in political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The National Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu, disclosed this in a statement made available in Abuja on Monday.
The OK Movement, short for the Obi–Kwankwaso Movement, is a political coalition and grassroots initiative established to mobilise support for a joint ticket featuring Peter Obi as president and Rabiu Kwankwaso as vice president under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ughulu said effective electioneering required adequate preparation, functional structures and coordinated mobilisation beyond the appointment of campaign officials.
He said political organisations needed to establish strong grassroots networks and develop strategies capable of reaching voters across the country.
According to him, the timing of campaign preparations was important, particularly as political parties and support groups intensified activities ahead of the elections.
Ughulu said the movement had prioritised organisational development and grassroots coordination, describing them as essential components of a successful electoral campaign.
He added that the movement had continued to build its structures in preparation for the forthcoming elections.
The director-general said political ambition should be supported by the capacity to mobilise supporters, coordinate activities and sustain engagement with voters.
He noted that campaign councils and prominent political figures were important but needed to be backed by functional structures and effective mobilisation strategies.
Ughulu emphasised that the movement remained committed to demonstrating the value of organised grassroots participation in the country’s electoral process.
He also expressed confidence that its organisational experience could contribute to broader political mobilisation ahead of the elections.
He said political organisations needed to recognise the importance of established structures and sustained preparation in their electoral engagements.
Ughulu reiterated the movement’s commitment to its political objectives, saying it would continue to strengthen its coordination and mobilisation efforts.
He added that effective leadership in electioneering depended on preparation, organisation and the ability to translate political support into coordinated action.
The director-general said the movement remained ready to contribute to efforts aimed at achieving its political objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
