‎Nigeria has expanded contact tracing to 53 people following a reported confirmed case of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola virus disease in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
‎
‎The number of primary contacts reportedly increased from 44 to 53 as health authorities continued efforts to identify and monitor people who may have been exposed to the virus.
‎
‎The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) is coordinating the public health response with relevant health authorities.
‎
‎Contacts are generally monitored for 21 days after their last possible exposure, in line with established Ebola response procedures. This period allows health workers to identify symptoms early and take appropriate action if necessary.
‎
‎Contact tracing is an important part of containing infectious disease outbreaks because it helps health officials identify potentially exposed individuals, monitor their health and limit further transmission.
‎
‎Members of the public are advised to rely on verified updates from health authorities and follow official public health guidance.
