The Kogi State Police Command has begun investigating a fatal shooting involving two police officers at ASCO Camp in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of the state.
The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, October 23, 2026. Police received information about the incident at approximately 11:04 p.m.
The officers involved were identified as Woman Corporal Grace Onimisi and Corporal Amos Yusuf. Both reportedly died in the incident.
According to the preliminary police account, Yusuf was reportedly on night duty when the incident occurred. An AK-47 rifle and four spent cartridges were said to have been recovered from the scene.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
The police have not established a motive for the incident, and the investigation is expected to clarify what happened.
The command is expected to provide further information as the inquiry progresses.
