The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has reportedly arrested a 34-year-old South African woman, Qhina Beauty, over the alleged trafficking of 36.65 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The woman was reportedly arrested on October 7, 2026, while preparing to travel out of Nigeria through Qatar Airways, with Doha as her transit destination. The cocaine was allegedly discovered in 30 blocks concealed in her luggage.
During interrogation, she reportedly claimed that she had been recruited for the trip and promised payment of 20,000 South African rand.
In a related operation, NDLEA operatives reportedly arrested a 46-year-old Lagos car dealer, Uchenna Victor Umunnakwe, at Apple Junction, Ago Palace Way, over his alleged connection to the drug trafficking operation.
The arrests form part of the agency’s efforts to curb the movement of illicit drugs through Nigeria’s airports and other routes.
The suspects are expected to face further investigation and possible prosecution in line with the law.
