The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has mourned Etimbuk Daniel, the immediate past Students’ Union Government (SUG) president of Akwa Ibom State University, who reportedly died at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Enugu State.

In a statement shared by BABTEE, Daniel’s death was described as shocking, with concerns raised about the circumstances surrounding his final moments.

According to the statement, Daniel reportedly complained of a headache and was given medication. However, his condition was said to have deteriorated after taking the drugs.

He reportedly requested to be taken to a hospital, but the approval required for his transfer allegedly came too late. The former SUG president was said to have died before receiving medical attention.

The statement further claimed that a doctor later identified the medication administered to him as fake, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.

Describing the incident as deeply troubling, the statement called for a thorough investigation to establish what happened and determine whether any negligence or wrongdoing occurred.
