The Kano State Police Command has arrested Habibu Bello, a suspected kidnapper and alleged member of a syndicate involved in armed robbery and cattle rustling.
The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Kano.
Haruna-Kiyawa said Bello allegedly belonged to an armed robbery syndicate operating across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna states.
He said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad arrested the suspect on September 14 at about 4:48 p.m., following credible intelligence.
According to him, the suspect confessed to several kidnapping incidents and cattle rustling in Gwarzo and Kwanar Dangora in Kano State, as well as parts of Kaduna State.
Haruna-Kiyawa said investigations were ongoing, while efforts had been intensified to arrest other members of the syndicate.
He added that the police were also working to recover weapons allegedly used by the group.
In a separate operation, police operatives recovered a Cine-Camera Drone marked GT 50 during a clearance operation in Kano State.
The spokesperson said the drone was recovered on September 17 at about 4 p.m. in Hawan Tarau village, Bebeji Local Government Area.
He said the drone was found lying on the ground, adding that efforts were ongoing to trace its source and identify its owner.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, commended the operatives for their gallantry during the operations.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining clearance operations in collaboration with neighbouring police commands.
Adamu-Bakori said the operations would help deny criminal elements safe havens in Kano and neighbouring states.
