Nigerian dancer and entertainer Pascal Odinaka Iweh, popularly known as Poco Lee, has found himself at the centre of a sexual assault controversy following allegations against him and reports of his detention in the United Kingdom.
The controversy began publicly on August 19, when reports emerged that Poco Lee had allegedly been arrested in the UK. At the time, the reports could not be independently verified, while details of the alleged offence and the identity of the complainant remained unclear.
Amid the reports, Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji came forward with a separate allegation, claiming that Poco Lee attempted to sexually assault her and her girlfriend during an encounter in Dallas, Texas, in 2024. She said the two women resisted and left the apartment. The Guardian reported that her allegation surfaced amid reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention in the UK.
However, there is no verified evidence publicly linking Ms Jorji’s Dallas allegation to the UK case. PM News also reported that her allegation had not been independently established by a court or law enforcement agency.
The situation took a more concrete turn on August 24, when Benjamin Kuti, founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, confirmed that Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison.
According to Kuti, Poco Lee is scheduled to appear before Snaresbrook Crown Court in London on September 15, 2026, at 10am, for a plea hearing. He added that he would attend the proceedings to support the entertainer.
While some reports have described the matter as a rape case, reliable reports currently describe the UK matter only as an alleged assault offence, with the specific charge and identity of the complainant yet to be publicly confirmed.
Poco Lee has not been convicted of any offence and remains innocent unless proven guilty by a court.
