Prince Marvelous
Actress Temitope Osoba, a beloved Yoruba film star who passed away at just 40 years old reportedly after surviving an earlier breast cancer scare.
Her death sent shockwaves through Nollywood, but it’s the mystery surrounding her final hours that has now gripped the industry.
According to actor Olamilekan Ayinla, Osoba’s last words to him were a desperate plea: *”don’t let me die.”* She shared several things with him before losing consciousness ,and passed away shortly after.
Adding to the confusion, her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, alleged she died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos, while her maternal aunt, Pejuola Ogunesan, gave a conflicting account, saying Osoba had spoken about her impending death and that her condition had deteriorated before she reached the hospital.
That’s where Yomi Fabiyi, veteran actor and human rights advocate, stepped in. As Convener and President of the Break The Silence Foundation, he took to Instagram on Sunday, August 10, sharing an official letter urging authorities to delay Osoba’s burial until a full autopsy and police investigation could take place.
He revealed his foundation had already petitioned the Lagos State commissioner of police, stressing that Osoba had personally reported a matter to police and established a possible criminal angle, but died just hours later before it could be investigated.
In his own words, he pleaded: “Do not bury Tope Osoba now until full investigation is done and established.”
He warned that if she were buried before police began investigating, her body might later need to be exhumed for an autopsy, arguing that a little patience now could spare everyone that painful process later.
The burial had originally been scheduled for today, Thursday, August 13, at Saint James’ Anglican Church in Ogun State, followed by interment at Iperu Cemetery.
But in the latest twist, Osoba’s family has officially postponed the burial, though they’ve cited the Candlelight and Artists’ Night held in her honor as the reason for needing more time, rather than confirming Fabiyi’s calls directly influenced the decision.
For now, questions still linger over what truly happened to Tope Osoba, and Nollywood is watching closely to see whether the family’s next move brings clarity or deepens the mystery.
