Weeks after marking UNESCO World Book Day, the Lagos State Library Board is back with the 2026 edition of Lagosreads.
Lagosreads is an initiative of the Lagos State Government, overseen by the Lagos State Library Board under the supervision of the Ministry of Tertiary Education. The program aims to improve the reading culture among Lagosians by organising and promoting reading events and activities in schools, as well as in public and private libraries across the state.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Mr. A.A. Odifa, and the Acting Director of Library Services, Mrs. Sofuye Oyenike, this year’s event holds on Thursday, 21st May 2026, at Oba Akinjobi Way, GRA, Ikeja.
The host, Mrs. Sofuye Oyenike, and her team have invited secondary schools from across the state to participate in the Lagosreads Inter-schools Quiz Competition. Students will also be inspired by the special guest of honour, author and literacy advocate Foluke Sijuwola Falayi, who has authored over 20 books. She will speak on the benefits of reading and why cultivating the habit matters.
True to Lagos State’s reputation as a leading state in Nigeria, the Lagos State Library Board continues to champion reading culture and make a tangible difference in the lives of students and residents by helping them excel.
