Kano State Government has approved the release of N233 million to procure advanced laboratory equipment for the newly remodelled quality control laboratory in Drug and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA).
Director-General of the agency, Gali Sule, disclosed this during quarterly review meeting on Tuesday in Kano.
He said the state government is determined to strengthen healthcare delivery, ensure safety, efficiency, quality drugs and medical consumables are distributed across the state.
According to him, the new equipment will enable the agency to conduct comprehensive laboratory analysis and meet national and international standards in pharmaceutical quality control.
He explained that after procurement and installation, staff would undergo training on the use of the equipment, which include modern analytical and diagnostic tools essential for testing medical supplies.
The director-general, a pharmacist, disclosed that the agency had been accredited as internship training centre by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, following ongoing reforms at the DMCSA.
