A 30-year-old man, Aje Adeola, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over the alleged receipt of a stolen mobile phone.
The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is facing a one-count charge of dishonestly receiving stolen property.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence with others still at large on July 2 at about 3:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi alleged that Adeola received a Tecno POP 5 mobile phone valued at ₦150,000 from one Awopegba Tope, knowing it belonged to Kusewon Mary.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 343(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦50,000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 19 for hearing.
