Aaron Okojie, Head Coach of Bendel Dynamos Rebranded female handball club, says “the adventure continues” for him in his desire to win the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League.
After leading the then Edo Dynamos to fourth place in the previous season, Okojie now wants to do something about winning the competition this season in the fifth edition.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that all was in place to realise his dream with a rebranded side.
“I’ve never won any trophy. The Prudent Energy Handball Premier League is the biggest in club handball in Nigeria and I haven’t won it yet.
“But that is why I have been preparing hard for this year’s league,” Okojie said, stating that it would definitely be very special for him to win the league.
“The Edo government has just rebranded our team and it will be a plus to our team to win this edition,” the coach said.
He disclosed that the team formerly known as Edo Dynamos and now owned by the Edo State Government, which recently changed its name, was rebranded to fortify it.
Okojie assured that he would keep on trying to fulfill his dreams regarding the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League in particular.
“Other opponents are coming with the hope of winning, but I hope to give them a good fight. They want to win and the same goes for me too.
“But I’m prepared for whatever comes and we’ll have to see how it goes,” he said.
Okojie admitted that the team’s performance in the last edition was not overwhelming after they missed several goalscoring chances.
“But this season we will perfect all strategies. It is a fact that we are just grooming these girls and they are part of the development programme of the Edo State Government. So, we will work hard.
“We have been working rigorously together for a couple of weeks, and I have so much confidence in my players because they have been responding well to training.
“I thank God that we did not sustain any injury during the training sessions, and we are fully ready for the league,” he said.
The coach assured that his players would work hard to ensure victory.
“We are going to Abuja to make our state proud. This is our mission and we must accomplish in a state of perfection.
“We will make sure that we fight well,” Okojie said.
NAN reports that Safety Babes won the women’s competition in the last edition of the league, while the male category title was won by the Kano Pillars.

The league is the biggest handball competition in the country, and this year’s edition is billed for May 22 to June 2 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
