A 28-year-old woman, Divine Kalu, on Tuesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for allegedly stealing an iPhone worth N1.6 million.
Kalu, whose address was not provided, is facing a one-count charge of theft and pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Aug. 6 at about 5 p.m. at Tempo Paper Pulp and Packaging Plc, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that Kalu stole the iPhone, valued at N1.6 million, belonging to Dr Seun Obasanjo.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one responsible surety in like sum.
She ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed, with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
Fadairo adjourned the case until Aug. 24 for further hearing.
