Emeka Rollas, president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, has blamed veteran actor, Chiwetalu Agu, for wearing the IPOB branded shirt at the time the Army arrested him on Thursday, October 7.

Agu was arrested by soldiers in Onitsa, Anambra State.

He was said to have beeen brutalised in the process, with a viral video trying to prove this.

But the military, on Thursday, denied any act of brutalisation.

“Troops of Nigerian Army have arrested one Chiwetalu Agu while inciting members of the public and soliciting for support for the proscribed IPOB.

“Dressed in a very well known attire of the proscribed group, Chiwetalu Agu was picked up for questioning while inciting members of the public to join the proscribed group. Though he attempted puting up some resistance when troops made effort to take him into custody, he was not assaulted or subjected to brutalisation,’ the military had said in a statement.
Reacting Rollas said the setting was too sensitive for anyone to openly waer the IPOB brand.

He was quoted as saying, “I don’t know why he put on Biafra regalia. The state is hot.” Rochas told Vanguard.
“We are in talk with the military officials to ensure he his released. I heard they have taken him to 82 Division of the Nigeria Military base. We will do our best.”
