Barcelona sporting director Deco has explained the decision behind signing Anthony Gordon instead of keeping Marcus Rashford permanently.
Despite Rashford’s solid contribution during his loan spell, Barça opted to sign Gordon from Newcastle in an €80 million deal, believing the 25-year-old winger aligns better with Hansi Flick’s tactical demands.
Addressing the decision between the two English forwards, Deco said:
”We’re very grateful to Rashford , but Anthony Gordon brings more of what the coach is looking for.”
Gordon has hit the ground running at Camp Nou, slotting straight into Flick’s high-pressing, vertical attack. The winger has had four assist in five appearances and been a danger on the wing side.
