French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has surprised fans with a Nigerian Pidgin expression on Instagram following its 4–0 victory over Barcelona.

The club shared a picture of a celebrating player on its verified Instagram account with the caption, “Who no go, no go know,” accompanied by explosion and Nigerian flag emojis.

The expression is commonly used in Nigeria to suggest that people who miss out on an experience will not know what they have missed.

PSG’s choice of words is an unexpected use of Nigerian Pidgin by a major French football club, giving its post a distinctly Nigerian touch.

The caption also fits the celebratory mood surrounding the team’s victory, with the phrase suggesting that those who missed the match missed out on a memorable performance.

By using a familiar Nigerian expression, PSG has given Nigerian fans a reason to connect with its post beyond the result on the pitch.
