Nigerian singer and son of billionaire businessman Rasaq Okoya, has explained the reason he is quitting music.
Siraheem on Wednesday announced his exit from the music industry, saying he could no more fulfil the elements and discipline the craft demands.
The 23-year-old singer, whose real name is Raheem Okoya, announced his decision in a post via his Instagram account, @siraheem.
In a statement titled, “Professional Exit From The Music Industry,” Siraheem described his music journey as a magical one, recalling performances and experiences he said he would carry with him for the rest of his life.
He, however, said balancing music with his other commitments had become increasingly difficult.
“I have always believed in giving everything my best and I no longer feel I can give this craft the effort, patience and dedication it truly deserves.
“So, I owe it to my true fans and to my colleagues in this industry, a professional exit. I have decided to stop putting out new music.”
He expressed appreciation to his fans, colleagues and everyone who had supported his career.
Siraheem noted that the decision did not mark the end of his creative journey, adding that he had plans to explore other fields and ventures.
He also hinted that an unreleased album could still find its way to the public.
“Music still remains therapeutic for me. With time, maybe the album finds its way into the world somehow after all,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Siraheem is an Executive Director at Eleganza Industrial City Ltd., the company owned by his father, billionaire industrialist, Razaq Okoya.
He has previously spoken about balancing his responsibilities at the company with his music career.
He has released songs including “Bad Bitch “I Go Pay,” “Credit Alert,” “Kowope” and “TRU$T FUND.”
The singer’s announcement comes after several years of pursuing music professionally, although he suggested that his relationship with music may not be entirely over.
