Scotland manager Steve Clarke abruptly ended a post-match television interview after his team suffered a 3-0 defeat to Brazil at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Brazil secured the victory in Miami through goals from Vinicius Junior and Matheus Cunha, a result that saw the South American side finish top of Group C.
The defeat left Scotland’s hopes of reaching the knockout stage uncertain. Clarke’s men finished third in the group on three points and must now await the outcome of other group-stage matches to determine whether they will advance as one of the tournament’s best third-placed teams.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the match, Clarke expressed disappointment with his side’s performance.
“We made it difficult for ourselves. That’s it,” he said. “We gave them the goals and the game. Disappointing.”
When asked about Scotland’s chances of progressing to the next round, the coach declined to discuss the situation further.
“I can’t even think about that. Sorry, I can’t even think about it,” Clarke said before ending the interview.
The Scotland boss has previously criticised immediate post-match interviews conducted on the pitch. Following his side’s 1-0 loss to Morocco earlier in the tournament, he questioned the practice during a brief television appearance.
Scotland will now wait for the completion of the remaining group-stage fixtures to learn whether their World Cup journey will continue into the round of 32.
