An Islamic group, Ta’awunu Human Right of Nigeria (THURIST) has asked popular actor and producer, Odunlade Adekola, to stop circulating his new film, ‘Iku Ni’.
THURIST also wants him to apologise to Muslims.
According to him, he depicted Islam in an unacceptable way in the film, based on what he made a woman in purdah to do.
Lawyer to the group, Sulayman A. Tadese, in an interview with BBC Yoruba, noted that it was wrong to be rubbishing Islam through film and theatre.
“We have written Odunlade and TAMPAN concerning how he defaced a woman in purday in the film. Film and theatre are part of what can cause crises. If it were in the North that Odunlade did what he did, things would have gone out of hand.”
Tadese said THURIST had given Odunlade a week to bring down the movie and apologise. If he refused to do so he added, the group would take a step, which he had yet to reveal.
