Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has confirmed that striker Luis Suarez suffered a ‘strong ankle sprain’ in the final minutes of their 4-1 La Liga win at Real Betis.
The Uruguayan international was substituted out in the 89th minutes and will undergo tests on Monday.
According to Valverde, announcement on his recovery will be made following the examination.
The 32-year-old is due to join the Uruguay squad for a match against Uzbekistan, but Barca will await confirmation of the extent of his injury before allowing the player to depart, goal.com said.
