A 50-year-old man, Olufemi Ayodele, has been docked before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly giving false information to the police.
The police also charged Ayodele with defamation of character and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecuting counsel Inspector Kehinde Olarotimi told the court that the defendant committed the offence around the University College Hospital area in Ibadan.
Olarotimi alleged that Ayodele falsely informed the police that one Michael Afun had hired assassins to kill him, an offence contrary to the provisions of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State.
Magistrate Adebola Adeola admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until January 26 for hearing.
