The Chancellor of Covenant University, Dr. David Oyedepo, has urged African nations to look inward and develop indigenous solutions to solve the continent’s socio-economic challenges.

Speaking on Monday in Ota, Ogun State, Oyedepo emphasized that fostering home-grown strategies remains the most viable path for Africa to break its heavy reliance on foreign aid and intervention.

He noted that human beings are inherently equipped to solve problems within their immediate environments, urging Africans to take full responsibility for their national destinies rather than constantly seeking external assistance.

The chancellor identified a passive mindset as a key barrier to the continent’s progress, stating that reliance on fate discourages proactive planning and personal accountability. He stressed that national growth depends heavily on the proactive contributions of individuals and local institutions.

Oyedepo called on African leaders and citizens to mobilize local knowledge, resources, and institutional capabilities to drive long-term, sustainable development across the continent.
