The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, and Rwanda’s Army Chief of Staff, Maj.-Gen. Vincent Nyakarundi, have participated in a joint fitness walk aimed at strengthening military ties between both countries.

The exercise, held at the Kigali Running Track in Rwanda, was designed to promote physical fitness, reinforce professional relationships and deepen cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the Rwanda Defence Force.

The Nigerian Army’s Acting Director of Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, said regular physical training was essential for building endurance, discipline and resilience among military personnel.

She added that physical conditioning improved operational readiness and prepared troops for the demands of military operations.

Anele said the exercise also provided an opportunity for personnel from both armies to build mutual trust, strengthen professional relationships and promote shared military values.

She noted that such engagements encouraged cooperation and teamwork, which were essential for effective military operations and mission success.
