Tinubu visits Oba of Lagos, seeks royal counsel

President Bola Tinubu on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, at the Iga Idunganran Palace on Lagos Island.

The visit provided an opportunity for the President to receive prayers and counsel from the traditional ruler for his administration and the nation.

Tinubu was received at the palace by members of the royal household and residents who gathered to welcome him.

Supporters, All Progressives Congress (APC) members and well-wishers lined the streets around Marina and Isale Eko as the President’s motorcade approached, creating a festive atmosphere.

Oba Akiolu prayed for Tinubu, his administration and the nation, seeking divine guidance, peace and prosperity.

The traditional ruler also offered counsel to the President on matters concerning the country and the wellbeing of Nigerians.

The meeting underscored the role of the traditional institution in maintaining dialogue with the Federal Government and supporting national development.

Tinubu was accompanied by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside APC stalwarts, political associates and other dignitaries.

The visit formed part of the President’s engagements with traditional rulers, prominent Nigerians and other stakeholders since his return to Lagos.

The meeting with Oba Akiolu further reinforced the longstanding relationship between the Presidency and traditional institutions in Lagos.
