Two friends were on Monday arraigned before a Dutse Senior Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly attacking a businessman and damaging his Samsung phone valued at N1.5 million.
The defendants, Mubarak Adamu, 25, and Abba Abdullahi, 23, were charged with joint act, causing grievous hurt and mischief under Sections 79, 247 and 327 of the Penal Code Law.
The prosecution counsel, Juliana Atinko, told the court that the complainant, Isaac David, reported the incident at the Gwarinpa Police Station.
Atinko said David boarded a tricycle from War College to Oando Filling Station in Gwarinpa on Sept. 15 and was allegedly attacked with a knife by the defendants before reaching his destination.
She said the attack left David with an injury to his right hand and resulted in damage to his Samsung phone valued at N1.5 million.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Umar Dodo granted them bail with two reasonable sureties each. He also ordered each defendant to provide an affidavit and undertaking, while each surety was required to provide a bail bond of N150,000.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Oct. 12 for hearing.
