Harry Kane has reacted to being named the frontrunner for the upcoming Ballon d’Or following a record-shattering year for Bayern Munich and England.
The 33-year-old striker scored an unbelievable 73 goals across all competitions last season, beating Cristiano Ronaldo’s single-season career best while securing a domestic double with Bayern and taking home the European Golden Shoe.
Speaking to TNT Sports about his chances of winning football’s top individual award, Kane said:
”Of course, now it is out of my hands, it is down to the voters and the people who decide it. The season I had was my best season by far, and we’ll have to wait and see. I’m happy that I am in contention, so we will have to wait and see.”
If Kane takes home the trophy in October, he will become the first English player to win the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001.
