Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has set social media alight following a wide-ranging and unapologetically bold appearance on comedian Isbae U’s popular online show, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
The episode, released over the weekend, has quickly become one of the most talked-about interviews in recent Nollywood memory.
Asked to name his favourite actor, the 78-year-old screen icon refused to play it safe.
He declined to single anyone out, insisting instead that he considers himself above his peers in the industry.
To back up his claim, he pointed to his early beginnings, revealing that he starred in a production of Merchant of Venice as far back as 1962, when he was just 15 years old.
The veteran actor also used the platform to respond, without directly naming names, to long-running claims by colleague Yemi Solade that Solade began his acting career ahead of Edochie.
Rather than engage point by point, Edochie issued an open challenge, daring anyone who believes they are on his level to say so publicly.
On the subject of being widely regarded as a legend, Edochie struck a more humble tone, admitting he isn’t entirely sure what the title means but expressing gratitude for the recognition all the same.

Edochie also weighed in on marriage, offering pointed advice to men and cautioning against becoming financially dependent on their wives, a comment that added fuel to the online buzz already surrounding the episode.
