Police arrest three suspected carjackers, armed robbers in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three suspected members of an alleged armed robbery and carjacking syndicate in the Alakuko area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

Adebisi said the suspects, aged 20, 21 and 28, were arrested by police operatives acting on credible intelligence.

She said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects specialised in car snatching and robbing residents of their valuables.

Adebisi added that a search of the suspects led to the recovery of two locally made pistols loaded with five cartridges and one locally made revolver pistol loaded with three rounds of 9mm live ammunition.

According to her, the suspects are currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the syndicate.

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Fatai Tijani, reiterated the command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety and security of residents across the state.

He urged members of the public to report emergencies and suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines.
