Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has been arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, in connection with an ongoing investigation into alleged certificate forgery.
According to reports, Nnaji was arrested shortly after arriving on a chartered flight and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
The anti-corruption agency had reportedly been investigating allegations that the former minister submitted forged academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates during his ministerial screening and confirmation process in 2023.
The ICPC had earlier told a court that Nnaji repeatedly failed to honour invitations for questioning over the allegations.
It was further alleged that the disputed documents were submitted to the Presidency, the Senate, the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and security agencies as part of the ministerial appointment process.
On June 13, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the ICPC permission to arrest Nnaji and declare him wanted as part of its investigation into the matter.
