The actor passed away on Monday, June 29, following a brief illness, according to reports.
His death was announced on Tuesday by fellow actor Kunle Afod via Instagram.
Afod described Adeshina as one of the legends of Yoruba cinema, noting his contributions to the industry, his talent, and the joy he brought to audiences.
He extended condolences to the actor’s family, colleagues, and fans.
“We regret to announce the passing of one of the legends of the Yoruba Nollywood industry, Baba Elegbeje Ado.
“Thank you for the beautiful memories and the legacy you left behind. May your soul rest in perfect peace.
“Our heartfelt condolences go to your family, friends, colleagues, and fans during this difficult time.
Adeshina spent over two decades in the Yoruba film industry.
He was widely recognised for playing traditional rulers, community elders, and other culturally rooted roles.
Outside of acting, Adeshina was also a Christian minister and combined his pastoral work with filmmaking throughout his life.
