Elegbeje Ado joins the heavenly cast as Yoruwood's noble babalawo passes on

The Nigerian movie industry has lost another fermented talent as Elegbeje Ado (born Taiwo Adeshina) is dead.

His death came about two weeks after veteran actor and scholar, Kola Oyewo, died.

Based on the herbalist’s/priest’s roles he often played, Elegbeje Ado’s passage would remind followers on the Yoruba movie industry called otherwise Yoruwood the fact that his incantation-spitting colleagues such as Fadeyi Oloro and Dagunro had also passed away.

He was, however, versatile to the extent that he at times played the roles of community leaders and other elders while he also delved into gospel theatre before he breathed his last.

The actor passed away on Monday, June 29, following a brief illness, according to reports.

His death was announced on Tuesday by fellow actor Kunle Afod via Instagram.

Afod described Adeshina as one of the legends of Yoruba cinema, noting his contributions to the industry, his talent, and the joy he brought to audiences.

He extended condolences to the actor’s family, colleagues, and fans.

“We regret to announce the passing of one of the legends of the Yoruba Nollywood industry, Baba Elegbeje Ado.
