The Akran of Badagry in Lagos State, Aholu Menu Toyi 1, has urged traditional rulers in Nigeria to continue to foster peace and unity among their people.
The traditional ruler gave the advice in a new year message signed by Chief Afolabi Hunkanlin the
Secretary to Akran in Badagry.
The oba appealed to ethnic groups in Badagry including Awori, Egun, Weme, Wheda, Seton, to live as one, supporting one another for the greater good of the border community.
“Let Awori and Egun collaborate, Weme and Alada partner, Whlanu and Ga connect, Wheda and Seton unite with the Devi and let us all be our brother’s keeper.
“To our political leaders, local government chairmen, state legislators, I urge you to work together for the betterment of Badagry.
“Let us put the needs of our people first,” he said.
The royal father commended the peace and harmony in Badagry, adding that it was a testament to the people’s collective efforts.
“However, we mustn’t relent in ensuring our security remains paramount.
“All hands must be on deck as we work together to maintain this peace.
“My gratitude to our dedicated security agencies: the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Civil Defense, Federal Road Safety Corps, Department of State Security, Nigerian Customs and others.
“Your tireless efforts are the backbone of our community’s peace.
“As we step into this new year, let us rededicate ourselves to building a stronger, more prosperous Badagry.
“Let us continue to promote peace, unity, and development in our community.
“May this new year bring joy, peace, and prosperity to Badagry and beyond,” the traditional ruler said.
