Eid el-Fitr: A time to renew Nigeria’s pact with destiny – PDP
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Zamfara, says it has reported the alleged attack on its member and a state legislator, (PDP Maru South), Mr Kabiru Dangulbi, to security agents for investigation.
This is contained in statement by Mr Halliru Andi, the PDP
Publicity Secretary on Saturday in Gusau, Zamfara.
The lawmaker was allegedly attacked recently, during Gov. Dauda Lawal’s visit to Dansadau Emirate, Maru local government in Zamfara.
“The PDP strongly condemns the unfortunate incident involving the Member representing Maru South, Hon. Kabiru  Dangulbi.
“The matter has been formally reported to the relevant security agencies, and investigations are ongoing,” the PDP said.
According to Andi, credible information indicates that the incident was allegedly orchestrated by desperate opposition elements aimed at disgracing the member and tarnish the image of the Governor.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the state lawmaker was allegedly attacked  by some angry youth during Gov Lawal’s recent visit to Dansadau in Maru local government area.
The angry youths accused the lawmaker of abandoning his constituents for more than two years after he was elected to represent them.
NAN recalls that it took the intervention of security agents to save the legislator who sustained minor injuries from the attack.
The PDP urged the security forces to unmask those behind the attack.and prosecute them.
The PDP, while reacting to an earlier statement by state chapter of APC, said  it however: “read with utter dismay, a reckless, misleading and poorly fabricated press statement credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara State chapter, concerning the recent visit of Lawal to Dansadau Emirate in Maru Local Government Area.”
According to the PDP,
Lawal was wholeheartedly and warmly received by the Emir of Dansadau, the Dansadau Emirate Council, and the entire people of the Emirate.
“The rousing reception accorded to the Governor from Gusau to Dansadau was unprecedented in the history of Zamfara.
“Communities along the 107km route came out en masse to cheer, welcome and express their love and support for the Governor.
“So overwhelming was the reception that the journey took several hours due to the crowds.
“The conferment of the traditional title “Garkuwan Dansadau” on Lawal by the Emir of Dansadau stands as a clear testament to the respect, love and acceptance he enjoys among the people,” it said.
The PDP said that Dansadau was abandoned by successive administrations, with no sitting Governor deeming it worthy of a visit to the area.
Andi added, “Gov. Dauda Lawal broke this long-standing neglect by personally visiting the area to listen to the yearnings of the people.
“During the visit, he flagged off the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road, a critical project already awarded to enhance security, boost economic activities and ease the movement of farm produce, given that the majority of the inhabitants are farmers who suffered severe neglect under APC rule.
“The APC should, frankly, bury its head in shame over its laughable claims regarding the defection of PDP executives in Maradun Local Government.
“The said executives have publicly rejected the APC and reaffirmed their loyalty to the PDP, a fact widely reported and available in the media today.
“For the record, no Governor in the history of Zamfara State enjoys the love, acceptance and mass support currently accorded to Governor Dauda Lawal.”
According to Andi, Lawal’d people-oriented leadership, inclusive governance and commitment to justice and development have endeared him to the masses across party, ethnic and religious lines.
Andi says, “Gov. Dauda Lawal remains steadfast, focused and committed to delivering good governance to the people of Zamfara.”
Earlier, the Zamfara chapter of the APC had in a statement alleged that Gov Lawal’s visit to Maru was married by the attack on the lawmaker, indicating rejection by the his constituents.
The statement by malam Yusuf Idris, its Publicity Secretary on Friday accused the PDP-led Government of non performance and failure to fulfill electioneering campaign promises.
Idris alleged that the lawmaker, who: “suffered in the hands of his people, bathed with dirty sands and ran for his dear life to find solace in the larger convoy, resulted to the damaging of the governor’s official vehicles.
“While the state chapter of the APC sympathises with the victims, we want to say, this was the direct result of a failed government.
“Meanwhile, the APC which has continued to receive defectors from the PDP, the latest of which were the PDP executives from Maradun local government led by the Chairman, remains open to all entrants,
