Meta-owned social media platforms accounts for 50.34 per cent of global social media web traffic tracked so far in a 2026 analysis by OneLittleWeb.com.

The analysis said Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Messenger collectively generated 18.34 billion estimated web visits during the period under review.

It said the findings were drawn from an analysis of 10,171 websites globally, using estimated web traffic data from Ahrefs and Semrush.

Ahrefs is a digital marketing and search engine optimisation platform that uses web-crawl and search data to provide insights into websites, including estimated traffic, keywords and backlinks.

Semrush is a digital marketing intelligence platform that provides data and analysis on website traffic, search visibility, keywords and other online performance indicators.

The two platforms provide estimates and analytical data used by marketers and researchers to compare website performance, rather than direct records of every visitor to a website.

According to the OneLittleWeb analysis, Facebook remained the most visited social media website, recording 9.10 billion estimated web visits and a 24.98 per cent share of tracked social media traffic.

Instagram ranked second with 6.08 billion visits, representing 16.68 per cent, while Reddit emerged as the leading non-Meta platform with 5.08 billion visits.

The analysis said Facebook and Instagram alone generated 15.18 billion combined web visits, representing 41.66 per cent of the social media traffic covered.

Reddit ranked third with 5.08 billion visits, placing it ahead of X, TikTok and LinkedIn in the ranking.

The platform recorded 1.28 times the web visits of X, 2.12 times those of TikTok and 3.43 times LinkedIn’s traffic, according to the analysis.

X ranked fourth with 3.96 billion estimated web visits and 10.87 per cent market share, while WhatsApp occupied fifth position with 2.72 billion visits.

The analysis said X was among the few major platforms in the top 10 to record an increase, adding 52.24 million web visits during the measured period.

TikTok ranked sixth with 2.39 billion visits, followed by LinkedIn with 1.48 billion and Pinterest with 1.19 billion visits.

Pixiv and VK completed the top 10, with 603.97 million and 595.57 million estimated web visits respectively.

Other platforms in the top 20 included Telegram, Bilibili, Quora, Marca, Threads, Note, Snapchat, Messenger, Tumblr and Dzen.

The analysis said Threads recorded 257.30 million web visits, while Messenger recorded 185.88 million, contributing to Meta’s combined traffic across its five platforms.

OneLittleWeb said its “Most Visited Websites in the World” dynamic dashboard tracks websites across different categories and uses data from Ahrefs and Semrush.

It said the social media analysis was produced by filtering the broader database to identify websites categorised under social media.

The report noted that the figures represented estimated web visits tracked in the analysis and should not be interpreted as the number of unique users on the platforms.

The analysis provides an indication of the concentration of web traffic among major social media platforms, with Meta-owned websites accounting for more than half of the social media web visits included in the dataset.
