Two men Stephen Austin, 26 and Bamikole Segun, 28, were on Thursday arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing their neighbour’s goats.

The defendants, both residents in Narayi area of Kaduna, are facing a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Oct 28, at about 10:30 p.m., along Catholic Road Narayi Kaduna.

Leo alleged that the defendants went into the compound of one Felicia Adams while she went to the market and stole her three goats.

He said that the defendants were apprehended and handed over to the police by some neighbours who saw them in the act.

He said the offences contravened the Penal Code Kaduna State, 2017.

The prosecutor, however, asked the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file and assemble witnesses.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendants, Mrs Ayomide Ibrahim, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, promising that they would not jump bail.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.

Emmanuel adjourned the case until Nov. 29 for hearing
