– Cameron Smith has the mullet, the mustache and now his first major title.

– Smith carded his second 64 of the tournament Sunday to finish 20-under and win The Open Championship.

– It is the first major title in Smith’s career, though not the first time he has been in contention on Sunday. The Australian finished second at the 2020 Masters and tied for third this year at Augusta National.

– Smith was able to grab the Claret Jug after posting a 30 on the final nine holes to tie for the lowest final nine by any major champion.

– Smith’s surge was good enough to overtake Rory McIlroy, who entered the final round tied for the lead with Viktor Hovland.

– American Cameron Young shot 65 on Sunday to finish a stroke behind in second. McIlroy came in third at 18-under, while Hovland and Tommy Fleetwood finished tied for fourth six shots back.
