Chief Peter Odo, former Permanent Secretary, Government House, Enugu State, has pledged to empowered more people in his constituency if elected as House of Representatives member.
Odo, who is contesting for Nsukka/Igboeze-South House of Representative seat in 2023, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said this in Nsukka on Thursday while speaking with newsmen.
He said that he empowered many people in his constituency as a permanent secretary but would like to empower more.
Odo also promised to play politics without bitterness as he would liaise with other aspirants to move the constituency forward.
“I will bank-roll at least 50 per cent of the expenses they incurred as candidates to prove my politics without bitterness.
“I will ensure everybody in the constituency is carried along irrespective of political party affiliation,” he said.
Odo also promised to hold quarterly town hall meetings to provide feedback to his constituents as well as get their inputs on national issues.
“As a lawyer and former permanent secretary in many ministries and the Government House, I have wealth of experience in material and human management.
“My attention to and respect for people helped me to succeed as permanent secretary.
” I have empowered many people in my constituency and want to empower more,” he said.
Odo, popularly known as O.C. Peters, identified true federalism as the solution to security challenges in the country.
“I believe in one Nigeria but I don’t believe in unitary democracy because it is a negation of true democracy and encourages low productivity.
“Security challenges and unemployment in Nigeria are rooted in our unitary democracy practice which is no longer in vogue globally.
“True federalism will create more jobs for the youth and the nation will be more productive,” he said.
According to him, 10 per cent of the country’s population has hijacked the resources that belong to everybody because the country is operating unitary democracy.

“This has led to agitations and the cry of marginalisation across the country,” Odo said
