WEMA Bank is proving proactive in its relationship with popular artiste, Davido.
Days after he sensationally raised some N200m through his account with the bank, it has unveiled him as the Brand Ambassador of its ALAT digital banking.
ALAT by Wema is described as Nigeria’s pioneer digital bank.
Meanwhile, Davido has also launched a new ride – a N240m 2021 Rolls Royce, which is however different from the WEMA Bank’s package.
The digital bank made the ambassadorial announcement on Friday, December 3, during the official signing session at Wema Bank’s Head Office in Marina, Lagos.
Wema Bank’s CEO, Ademola Adebise, welcomed the star artist to the bank, stating, ‘We welcome you warmly to our great family, the home of innovators and enterprising people who meet our customers’ needs with innovative products and excellent services that fit their lifestyles and empower their aspirations. You are set for a good time with us, and we assure you this relationship would be mutually beneficial.’

Speaking on the brand ambassadorship and his plans with the brand, Davido said, ‘I am excited to join the ALAT family and I look forward to the great things we will achieve together.’
Davido attended the event with his management including manager, Asa Asika and lawyer, Bobo Ajudua. Other top-level executives from Wema Bank including Deputy Managing Director of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni; Chief Digital Officer of Wema Bank, Olusegun Adeniyi; Chief Financial Officer of Wema Bank, Tunde Mabawonku, attended the session.
The signing was followed by a swanky party at the Wings Complex, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The announcement follows Davido’s recent viral virtual fundraising where he tasked well-wishers to enable him reach his goal of ₦100 million. The singer subsequently generated ₦200 million from fans and friends across the world. Davido has since announced the addition of ₦50 million to the funds raised, while appointing a five-man committee to ensure disbursement to orphanages.
Since its inception in 2017, ALAT by Wema has invested over ₦ 2 billion in youth-oriented business ideas such as ALAT Business, as well as initiatives and activities such as ALAT Talk Series, ALAT Food Challenge and partnered with SociaLiga.
