Nigerian film industry has lost another practitioner.

About two weeks after the death of Rachel Oniga, another Lagos-based actress, Doris Chima, has passed away.

She died after a prolonged battle with cancer.

The same disease it is that killed star singer Sound Sultan recently.

Apart from Oniga and Chima, Rich Oganiru as well as younger Stanley Okoro had also died in the past few days.

Chima fought hard, to the extent that she had her affected breast cut off in 2020 after she was diagnosed to prevent further damage.

‘The Nation’ on Monday morning quoted Lagos chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rising Ibe, as saying he was still in shock over the sad incident as Chima was a dedicated member and good woman.

He said: “She called me last week and pleaded due to ill health not to remove her from the verification exercise I embarked on to ascertain true members of the guild in Lagos.

“Yesterday morning, I got a call that she was dead. Though I am yet to visit the family but it is a great loss for us. I pray for the repose of her soul.”
