A church in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on Saturday donated food items and clothing to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Southern Kaduna.
Pastor Jonah Ambissa, International Administrator of the Throne Room Trust Ministry, Kafanchan, presented the items to IDPs in Zonkwa and Samaru, in Zango Kataf Local Government Area of the state.
Ambisa, who represented Apostle Emmanuel Kure, Founder of the ministry, said that the gesture was meant to cushion the hardship confronting victims of recent attacks in that part of the state.
“We are here to identify with victims of recent attacks in this part of the state.
“Our people are in distress right now and it is on that basis that we have come to give out these materials to ameliorate their sufferings.
“It is our hope and desire that the relief materials shall be used judiciously so that the people they are meant for can benefit,’’ Ambissa said.
He said the ministry would continue to seek divine intervention for lasting solution to the security challenges bedevilling the area.
He commended those managing the camps for the sacrifices they had been making to cater to the IDPs in their period of need.
Receiving the items, Mr David Nyat and Rev. Victor Elisha, coordinators at the Zonkwa and Samaru camps respectively, thanked the ministry for the timely intervention.
“We are very grateful to the ministry for deeming it fit to put a smile on our faces. Of truth, it has added colour to our lives.
“It is our prayer that God Almighty will continue to keep and sustain the ministry,’’ Nyat said.
He noted that the Zonkwa IDP camp had registered about 5,000 persons in four weeks.
On his part, Elisha called on the state government to assist the displaced persons as they were yet to receive any support from that quarter.
Some of the IDPs who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeri thanked the ministry for remembering them in their period of need and called on other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate it.
Items distributed were bags of rice, beans, blankets, shoes, bags, children wares, umbrellas, wrappers and towels among others.
