A former Lega Adviser of the All Progressives Congress, Babatunde Ogala, has described the Supreme Court judgement on the Ondo State governorship election as an ‘expo’ to the party.
‘Expo’ is an informal term used for a question got ahead of the exam.
The justices were split 4 to three on the matter brought to the court by the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, seeking the nullification of Rotimi Akeredolu’s victory as they considered the fact that the fact that the party’s Caretaker Committee Chairman, Mai Mala Buni, is also the Yobe State Governor.
Speaking on a ‘TVC’ programme ahead of the APC’s congress elections held on Saturday, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said the party could not take things for granted.
He said, “With the decision on the Akeredolu matter, the Supreme Court has given us an expo. Just imagine if any other one of the panel had gone with the three. There is the danger. Do we then wait until somebody brings a suit and join Mallam Buni? What the school of though is saying is why do we want to open ourselves up to such litigation.
“The party is working on it. Discussion, consultation ares ongoing. The Zamfara experience is still fresh. Rivers, we we had no candidate, is still fresh. Nobody is sleeping pretty. The party is perturbed. The leadership is worried.”
