Tragedy struck the Nigeria Customs Service in an unusual way on Tuesday when a swarm of bees attacked and killed one of its officers, Abba Abubakar.
A statement from the service said the incident happened on Tuesday in the Ashipa area of Badagry, Lagos State.
The spokesman of the Seme Command of the NCS, Seidu Abdullahi, noted in the statement, “With sadness and deep sorrow, the Seme Area Command announces the death of our colleague, CSC Abba, A. The sad event occurred yesterday due to an attack by a swarm of bees around Ashipa axis, Lagos- Badagry Expressway.
“We pray that Allah (SWT) shower His mercy and grant him the highest level of Jannah, and give his family the patience and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. Aameen.”
While Abba, who left behind a wife and children has been buried according to Islamic rites, the nature of his demise is still puzzling some people, as it is not a common one.
The fact that customs officers are exposed to attack by smugglers makes some to think the incident might not be natural.
