The 14th Nollywood Cultural Heritage Festival (NCHF) will honour cultural enthusiasts and stakeholders who have contributed to promoting and preserving Nigerian heritage.

NCHF President and Founder, Agility Onwurah, said the festival would hold from Oct. 22 to Oct. 24 at the FCT Exhibition Pavilion, Abuja, with the theme, “Preserving African Heritage Through Film, Culture, Tourism and Creative Enterprise.”

He said the festival would recognise contributions across film, fashion, art, tourism and other creative fields, while also featuring an African Fashion Runway showcasing traditional Nigerian attire.

Other activities include an African Food Fest, cultural dances, traditional displays, comedy, film screenings, panel discussions and keynote presentations on ways to monetise Nigeria’s cultural heritage.

Onwurah said the opening day would feature “Egwu Onwa” (Moonlight Night), organised in partnership with the Abuja Resident Musicians Association, with live music and traditional activities.

He said African films would also be screened, with awards for the best film, best director and other categories, while the Oct. 24 programme would focus mainly on the general awards.

Onwurah said the festival would remain free to encourage broad participation and called for more support from public and private organisations.

He said funding remained the festival’s major challenge, noting that it had relied on friends, partners and personal funds over the past 14 years.

He urged individuals and organisations to support the festival through funding, advertising, participation and promotion of Nigeria’s diverse cultures.
