Nigerian Exchange Group Plc has been named Africa’s Best Exchange at the Euromoney Markets Awards 2026, recognising its contribution to market infrastructure, digital innovation and capital formation.
The award was presented at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London, on October 15, 2026, covering achievements in market development during 2025, a year of sustained growth in Nigeria’s equities market.
Temi Popoola, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NGX Group, said the recognition reflected the Group’s commitment to strengthening the infrastructure and technology needed to support capital formation and investment.
Popoola credited regulators, policymakers, issuers, investors, stockbrokers and other market participants, and said NGX Group would continue widening digital access to investment opportunities, improving market efficiency and deepening connections with other African markets.
He added that the recognition would encourage the Group to sustain efforts to mobilise capital for businesses and expand investment opportunities.
A major part of that drive is NGX Invest, the Group’s electronic public-offering platform, which simplifies subscriptions to public offers and rights issues. It played a significant role in the banking sector recapitalisation exercise, facilitating more than N2.8 trillion in capital raising.
By September 2026, the platform’s distribution network had expanded beyond 180 channels, including stockbrokers, banks and fintech companies, with a WhatsApp subscription channel adding another route for investors.
The market backdrop is striking. In 2025, the All-Share Index rose 51.19 per cent, equities turnover climbed 109.48 per cent to N5.96 trillion, and market capitalisation reached N99.38 trillion.
The momentum has carried into 2026. As of October 16, the All-Share Index had gained 59.07 per cent year-to-date, turnover had risen to N7.82 trillion, a 73.78 per cent increase from N4.50 trillion a year earlier, and market capitalisation stood at N160.73 trillion.
