Moniepoint Microfinance Bank said it disbursed more than ₦1 trillion in credit to thousands of small businesses in 2025, earning the SME Microfinance Bank of the Year award for the third consecutive year.

The award was presented at the 14th BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

The bank’s Senior Vice-President, Distribution Network Sales, Ezekiel Sanni, said the recognition reinforced its commitment to supporting small businesses across Nigeria.

He said the bank would continue to expand access to credit and invest in its network to help businesses grow.

“This award strengthens our commitment to give small businesses the credit, payments and tools they need to scale,” Sanni said.

He added that the award recognised the bank’s efforts to make quality financial services accessible to small businesses nationwide.

Moniepoint Inc.’s Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer, Tosin Eniolorunda, also won the SME Finance Transformation Leader of the Year award.

According to the bank’s 2025 Year in Review, businesses that accessed its credit recorded an average transaction value growth of more than 36 per cent.

Moniepoint said it uses alternative data, including transaction histories, business patterns and payment behaviour, to assess the creditworthiness of small businesses.

The bank reported serving more than six million active businesses and processing ₦412 trillion in transaction value across more than 14 billion transactions in 2025.

It also said its payment network powers eight in every 10 in-person payments in Nigeria.

The BAFI Awards recognise institutions and individuals for their performance, innovation and leadership in Nigeria’s financial services sector. The 2026 edition presented 67 awards across payments, lending, investment management, capital markets, insurance, pensions and trusteeship.

Moniepoint MFB has also received other recognitions, including the Best Financial Institution in Women Empowerment award from the Association of Professional Women Bankers.
