The Lagos State Government has announced traffic diversions ahead of the rehabilitation of Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, scheduled to begin on Monday, Oct. 19, and last for 35 days.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the repairs would cover the stretch from Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre to Samuel Manuwa/BJ.

He said a contraflow would operate on the Lagos-bound side from Samuel Manuwa to Adetokunbo Ademola/Civic Centre while work was carried out on the opposite lane.

Motorists travelling from Bonny Camp and Falomo towards Civic Centre and Lekki were advised to use Adeyemo Alakija Street by Muri Okunola Park, connect to Adeola Hopewell and Akinbo Savage streets, then proceed through Bishop Aboyade Cole to School Corner (Black Diamond) towards Sandfield.

Motorists travelling from Falomo towards Akin Adesola were advised to use IMB to access the Coastal Road entrance through Adetokunbo Ademola, proceed to Eko Hotel Roundabout, then take Ajose Adeogun and Ligali streets towards Black Diamond School Corner.

Those coming from Bonny Camp could use Ahmadu Bello Way to reach Eko Hotel Roundabout through the IMB/Coastal Road entrance, then continue via Bishop Aboyade Cole, Adetokunbo Ademola, Ajose Adeogun and Ligali streets towards Black Diamond School Corner.

Motorists travelling from Eko Hotel through Adetokunbo Ademola towards Civic Centre would be diverted through Bishop Aboyade Cole and School Corner towards Sandfield. Those exiting through the 1004 gate would be directed to turn left or make a U-turn in front of the gate before continuing along Bishop Aboyade Cole.

Motorists travelling from Eko Hotel towards Falomo and Ikoyi were advised to use Sanusi Fafunwa Street to connect to Akin Adesola and proceed towards the ramp bridge.

Osiyemi said the government would deploy officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to direct traffic, reduce congestion and minimise inconvenience during the project.

He urged motorists to plan their journeys ahead, obey traffic officials and cooperate with the measures put in place.
