Cape Verde winger Jovane Cabral has used his historic World Cup campaign to a greater good. He completed a free transfer to Brazilian Série A giants Grêmio following the conclusion of his contract in Europe.
The 28-year-old moved to join Grêmio’s attack, stepping straight into South American football while maintaining his spot at Cape Verde’s national team setup.
Since arriving in Porto Alegre, Cabral has been integrated directly into Grêmio’s first-team rotation, making appearances in both the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A and the Copa do Brasil.
Cabral got off the mark for Grêmio in a high-profile Série A clash against Botafogo, driving home a clean goal to notch his first contribution in Brazilian football.
While for Cape Verde he scored a direct free-kick goal scored against Mali in the recent AFCON Qualifier vs Mali
Cabral featured in that match as a second-half substitute, coming off the bench to bolster the attack and winning a free-kick late in the game.
